What is this Akira?

"Kaneda is a bike gang leader whose close friend Tetsuo gets involved in a government secret project known as Akira. Later on his way to save Tetsuo, Kaneda runs into a group of anti-government activist activist, greedy politicians, irresponsible scientists and a powerful military leader. The confrontation sparks off Tetsuo's supernatural power leading to bloody death, a coup attempt and the final battle in Tokyo Olympiad where Akira's secrets were buried 30 years ago." That was the main plotline of the Akira movie. Akira is also an series of Manga (comic) books. "Akira is avalaible world wide and there are two DVD versions available - one with just the movie, and one with an entire seperate disc of extras, including literally hundreds of stills, and the feature-length Production Report (a making of video). In either form, the video is a spiffy one - a beautiful, remastered anamorphic widescreen transfer, a sharp Pro Logic Japanese soundtrack, and a new Dolby 5.1 English dub. There's also a neat little feature where you can have a pill pop up on the screen occasionally that will let you pause for a second and see some info about that scene - most of it is translations of graffiti or signs, but there are some informational notes." Myself I own all the mangas and the movie and it's special because it was the first manga I ever read when I was a kid. Well, no wonder I turned out to be a little bit twisted... ;)
